A new study shows that women who exercise throughout their pregnancy will stay healthier for decades, as opposed to those who do not.

The study was conducted using a group of women before, during and for one year after their pregnancy 18-20 years ago. Many of the women were very physically active before becoming pregnant.

In the study, 20 women continued exercising throughout their pregnancy, while 19 women stopped or reduced their exercising by 75% or more.

Those who maintained exercise throughout pregnancy gained less weight over time and a lower resting heart rate and lower levels of “bad” LDL cholesterol.
