A new robotic baby has been introduced to the world. The robot baby’s name is Yotaro.
Hiroki Kunimura of Tsukuba University’s robotics and behavioral sciences lab, said about the robot, “Yotaro is a robot with which you can experience physical contact just like with a real baby and reproduce the same feelings.”
The robots face is made of translucent silicon and is backlit by a projector connected to a computer. The robot can simulate crying, sleeping, sneezing and smiling and has a speaker which projects sounds a baby makes.
The robot baby can also move its arms and legs depending on where you touch it due to sensors on the body. Depending on how often the robot baby is touched its mood will change.
Oh and don’t worry, there’s a water pump inside the baby that can simulate a runny nose and who knows what else!
But what’s the point of this robot baby? To help young parents learn to raise a child before having one of their own.
If this baby robot ever hit the market, would you buy one?
