Tokophoia is the Extreme Fear of Childbirth, and was first identified by Dr. Kristina Hofberg in 2000.

Turns out one out of every six women suffers from Tokophobia. There are two types of Tokophobia:
– Primary Tokophobia: Fear of Childbirth before pregnancy
– Secondary Tokophoiba: Fear of Childbirth after a traumatic birth

Many Tokophobes have panic and anxiety attacks during the 9 months of their pregnancy – due to the fears they have about giving birth, including the fear of dying.

Do you or someone you know suffer from Tokophobia and care to elaborate?
