There are a number of things that a woman should avoid when she finds out she’s pregnant, and even better, when she’s trying to conceive.

Some major things to avoid are drugs, smoking and alcohol. This will not only benefit your own health, but also that of your growing baby.

It is also important to avoid caffeine. Doctors recommend that if you are still going to drink caffeine that you limit it to one two two cups per day. But consult your doctor about this when you find out you are pregnant to see what they tell you.

Also avoid raw foods and don’t eat too much fish. Again, your doctor can elaborate on this for you.

If you are on any medications be sure to speak with your doctor before you are planning on conceiving, or immediately after you find out you are pregnant. While these medications may be helping you, they may not be the best thing for your baby. It’s always better to ask and be sure than to find out later and be sorry.

Any surgeries that you know you need to get done you should do before you begin trying to conceive a baby. Same with x-rays, as they can be harmful to the fetus.

And above all, eat healthy and be happy!
